Abstract

The article analyzes the confictological aspects in the relationship between religion and culture in the history of Russia. The authors consider the periods of the greatest dependence and distance between religion and culture in the period of the new and modern history of Russia. Despite the fact that in the Russian Empire the head of state was the head of the Church, the processes of isolating the religious culture of the secular culture had been in the religious state, before the organization of an atheistic state in the Soviet Union. However, the centuries-old legacy of religion continued to influence thinking in Russian society during the Soviet era, and it influence continues today. The process of interaction between religious and secular culture at the turn of the 21 st century has different directions: reunification and conflict. The article analyzes contemporary conflicts in the space of religion and culture, assesses the level of contiguity and mutual claims. Orthodox culture in Russian society is ambiguous, superficial, which leads to alertness. Resonance cases of cultural and religious conflicts partly become forms of cultural and religious exchange. Through conflict the positions of the participants are manifested, which can lead to further separation or, on the contrary, a movement towards understanding. Actual cultural and religious conflicts show a lack of discussion platforms for dialogue between culture and religion. Creation of platforms for dialogue and organization of cultural and religious exchange are one of the directions for overcoming conflict in the society.
