CONFLICT THEORIES OF HUMANISM FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF BIOETHICS AND PHILOSOPHY OF BIOLOGY

Z. Plashienkova, T. V. Kovaleva

Abstract

The article is doing to look at the concept of “humanism” through the prism of ideas and principles of bioethics and philosophy of biology. The historical retrospective of the development of these two directions gives a clear understanding of their purpose, goal and objectives in different scientific fields: the biology and the medicine. They have the same goal, i.e. the solution of the global issue of humanity's survival through an understanding of humanism, but different approaches to its interpretation gave rise to the appearance of a conflict of choices among the scientific community. The study of different approaches to humanism through medical, biological and philosophical concepts and the consequences of the choice of one kind or another it suggests on the need for a detailed study of this phenomenon and the looking for new solutions to the deadly situation for the population of people. During the latter half of the twentieth century oncologist and microbiologist V. Potter in the monograph “Bioethics: bridge in the future” separated the philosophy of biology and the bioethics because of different humanism concepts and methods (the Lottery of survival, Slippery slope, etc.) to resolve problems of human survival. In ХХI century ideas of the philosophy of biology slipped into new genetics that offers more humane ways to solve this problem such as: the enhancement of the human genome in the antenatal period. Their new humanism way caused their wish to unite with bioethicists who have other takes on humanism principles. As this alliance has little chance of success this fact gives the idea that the grounded theory of concept “humanism” is mixed and it needs to look for new ways of solving this problem, taking into account the current conditions of the existence of society and its internal interaction. As such posthumanistic ideas can be unique and irrevocable decision of the development of the human race in the future.
