REMOTE WORK AS A CONFLICT FACTOR

Abstract


In recent years remote work has become not only a promising trend all over the world, but also a requested necessity. In our country remote work has been forced to become the “new reality” in a short period of time due to the pandemic situation. This generated the unexpected factors of conflict development and increasing their number in labor collectives. This necessitated the analysis of the remote work format impact on conflict in the horizontal and vertical interaction of employees. The article deals with various aspects of the problems and advantages of the remote work format for employees of organizations based on surveys of foreign and domestic experiences. The results of the author's investigations of the factors of conflict occurrence and specificity of conflicts’ course during the period of remote work and their perception by managers and subordinates are presented. The features of working teams’ response to in the format of work changing depending on a few initial parameters, such as involvement, satisfaction, readiness for change, gender and others are revealed. The data on subordinates’ and their supervisors’ perception of conflicts level and characteristics during the job transition to a remote format are compared, that allowed us to detect significant differences between them. The possibilities of applying of various conflict management methods in the team during the period of remote work have been analyzed. A niche for more active attraction of conflictological assistance for of such complications in remote interaction prevention and resolution to increase its productivity is shown. Recommendations for minimizing of negative consequences of remote work format implementation as a conflictogenic factor are proposed.
