Withdrawal Issue on US Tactical Nuclear Weapons in Europe: Debate Within Nato Countries

The possible withdrawal of the deployed US tactical nuclear weapons in Europe has always been a controversial issue within the NATO countries. Notwithstanding the decline or even vanishing of its military relevance due to the end of the Cold War and succeeding reductions of these weapons to some 200 bombs today, political factor still matters and continues to bring out a controversy between the allies. A set of NATO countries has strong feelings towards the withdrawal of these weapons to the US national territory, whereas other allied countries are inclined to its preservation in Europe. The article analyses both positions.
